Filipino American History Month 2019:
Pinay Visionaries

For its 2019 theme, the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) recognizes “Pinay Visionaries: Celebrating Filipina American Women” and their contributions to history and the Filipin@ American community nationwide. Throughout history, Pinay — Filipina American women — leaders, laborers, scholars, scientists, and activists have been the backbone of the Filipina/o American community. Thesce Filipina Americans have overcome racial and gender discrimination, and have persevered to contribute to their respective fields. We celebrate Filipina American women across the United States, including Pinays like: Dr. Dorothy Laigo Cordova, Victoria “Vicki” Manalo Draves, Dr. Dawn Bohulano Mabalon, Thelma Buchholdt, and Dr. Felicisima “Ping” Serafica
